Big Fork and Spoon

Carter and I are BIG Everybody Loves Raymond watchers.  We’ve seen every episode and continue to watch literally every night.  We have our favorite episodes { when Frank paints Marie, when the car backs through the house, when Debra throws out the Muhammad Ali letter in the trash, when Robert and Amy get caught doing the dirty and she has on his police pants, lol lol } told you we are avid watchers.  Tonight's episode was about the suitcase and the cheese and the story behind Frank and Marie's big Fork and Spoon.  It was their first “BIG Fight.” I’m sure you all remember your first big fight.  Carter and I of course have had ours and looking back we laugh. For Christmas my good friend Cindy found a “Salad Set” in my everyday dishes from Mandy Bagwell. I noticed that they had a little hole in the back and I had an idea!  Every couple needs a fork and spoon to remind them of their first fight!  If you can get through that one there is hope! I love the reminder behind the fork and spoon and it does help they are super cute!

One year and 8 days later, we sure don’t know everything but we have learned a thing or two along the way.  I hope we can make it to 57 years like my GREAT friend Lauren’s grandparents did.  They were each other’s world and he is having to say goodbye to her tomorrow after a fight with brain cancer.  I‘m so thankful for our year and can’t wait to make it to 57 and hopefully more.

First Week of the New Year

Carter and I spent a fair amount of time at what is soon to be my home away from home… The Softball Field.  We are trying to make the rye grass grow…it is slowly but surely coming along.  Also trying to get new ideas for the locker room!  Don’t want to spoil it for any of the girls which are highly likely to NOT be reading this but just in case I’ll post pictures later of those ideas.

I also spent a lot of time at school getting back in the groove.  It didn’t take long. We also have full week coming up but then will enjoy a four day week next week!  Whoo hoo!  Just keep the snow away PUHLEASE!

IMG_0289Monday, Carter worked late so I thought that I would do something simple and “healthy” for diner. {ya know it being the new year and all}  Carter LOVES Cracker Barrel's Chef Salad, so I thought that I would just recreate that for him with a side of fresh asparagus and mushrooms…for me…because he doesn’t eat asparagus or mushrooms ha!  This was so EASY and yummie!  I just spread my asparagus out on the parchment paper and sprinkled with olive oil, salt and pepper.  The I tossed it around with my tongs and then added the mushrooms on top.  It smelled so good cooking in the oven.  I heated my oven to 350 degrees and let the veggies roast for about 15 min while I chopped up my other veggies and lettuce for the salad. IMG_0304We had orange and green bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, jalapenoes, cucumbers, roasted chicken (from the store. I just pull it off the bone), cheese, bacon bits, and Italian dressing.  It was fantastic and it lasted for lunch two days. IMG_0302

Tuesday was the eventful day.  I took my precious momma to the dr. in bham to have her stitches removed from her back surgery which took all of like 8 min.  Seriously. Carter called me on the way and told me he had hit his head on the kitchen light fixture and it had broken.  I was thinking maybe one of the globes, I made sure he was okay and he said he didn’t have time to clean it up and for me to be careful when I got home.  Nothing could prepare me for what I was going to walk into the house to….photo

       IMG_0314He sure does have one hard head, but I was extremely concerned that he had a concussion because that it some seriously thick glass.  The good news is I HATED that light fixture and have been begging for one for quite sometime. YaY! So I got a new light this weekend!  Its not the GREATEST thing that you have ever seen, but it serves two purposes: 1. Carter can’t hit his head on it and 2. It doesn’t get it the way of the shelves I really don’t want to move.

I do like my non holiday shelves, but am looking forward to decorating for Valentine’s Day.

I hope your first week of 2012 was GREAT and that you have 51 more just like them!

I’m going to start giving my Ss a motivational quote of the week and this next weeks is:

You’re always in control of two things your EFFORT and your ATTITUDE!

Pinned Image

Click on the picture for the link to get a free printable at Less Cake More Frosting.  My husband thinks that Christmas threw up at our house. Last year we ( I ) had our first shower after getting engaged and it was a Christmas shower.  I got LOTS of great presents to use during Christmas.  Tonight I will give you a your of the inside of my home.  I have been cleaning like a mad woman and it is decent enough to take pictures.  I will do the outside of the villa later it is after midnight here and I am not brave enough to venture out to snap some pics.

weekend wrap up

Homecomings galore this past weekend!  Believe it or not it has been ten years since my senior homecoming game at my high school and six years since I was on the homecoming court at UNA. The hubs and I spent the weekend visiting with old friends and cleaning up the house for my sissy Baking Shower on Sunday!  Can we say jam packed weekend?  Oh yeah and my Brat Pack friend had her precious baby Evan too!  Great weekend that hopefully will run into a great week at school.

this is me and little tonya.. my fantublous co-worker…this was crazy spirit day.  Our principals really wanted us to get into the spirit…one of them spray painted his hair red and they both wore crazy socks and a VERY spirited outfit….Every spirit day needs ribbons:DSCN2534

Several of my softball girls were on the court:

When Two Become One

So as any good Southern Christian Girl would do Carter and I are not living together before we get married… but we are taking the “moving in” in stages.  WE HAVE LOTS OF STUFF! It’s a good thing that Carter is super handy with tools.  So for Valentine’s Day…along with a pack of sharpies!  Carter redid the closet in the master bedroom. It only had two shelves with two small rods on the sides of the semi walk in closet. Carter opened it up with two long rods and shelves on the long wall a short tall shelf for dresses and a wall of shelves for shoes!  It is AMAZING! I am thrilled with it… He made fun of me because I wanted to paint it a pretty color (maybe even put up some super trendy wall paper)!  That got vetoed. Now we can’t decide if all of my clothes..summer and winter will go in the closet or if carter is going to take the top shelf. Decisions Decisions.  This one is just one on the the list of about 1000 left to make.

Before: It is usually more organized.

{Top-shoes that don’t fit on the shoe rack on the bottom in picture two. Bottom- Jewelry chest, bags in the floor, sweatshirts, sweaters, scarves, skirts hanging.. dresses had already been taken out. There was no extra space in the closet.}

After: {top: 1.top shelf..still deciding summer clothes or carter’s clothes? 2. all of my winter clothes on one shelf, organized by color :) bottom: 1. I tried to get a complete view, but couldn’t really.  2. dress rack with a basket full of CHS softball sweatshirts! 3. side shelves for my shoes!}
