I spend hours each week looking for fabulous ideas for the upcoming week’s lessons at school. I always look through mu blog roll and then on pinterest and then I go to proteacher.net! I feel like it has been a little neglected with all of the other hoopla of pinterest, teacherspayteachers, etc. I am all about all of them, but I still want to pay homage to proteacher.net, because when I started teaching (5 years ago) I wouldn’t have made it without them! Thanks proteacher.net!

Charlie Kate
Today we celebrated the future birth of one of our best friend’s baby. Her name is going to be Charlie Kate! As her mom was opening personalized presents today she said, “ Her name is just so cute!” I couldn’t agree more. Mommy to be was adorable too. It is always good to get together with these friends and their babies, love that we just keep adding to the crew.
Charlie Kate got some great gifts! I can’t wait to have a little girl, Lord Willing! I went to Hobby Lobby this morning and got some ribbon for her planned gift and then I found all of this fun stuff:
So I made CK some cute pins that she can wear on her toboggan or her stretch headband or mommy can wear then pinned to a scarf:
Turned out pretty cute to me… I might become a little obsessed with making these now
Her wreath didn’t turn out too bad either:
It was still drying when I snapped the picture. Charlie Kate is super blessed with great parents and friends that al ready love her so much!
Babies are so fun! Especially when you can play with them and give them back!

Preppy Polly and A GREAT Recipe
This week we have been studying prepositions. I have this thing that I do when I fall asleep… I decide what I want to think about and focus on that one thing and somewhere between being awake and dreaming I can usually come up with an idea for that topic. So last night was prepositions. I had forgotten to search for it on Pinterest so I needed a cute idea besides the BBBBBBBBBBOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNGGGG workbook page. blah. So Preppy Polly was born… I forgot to take a picture of her at school, but the story was that Preppy Polly loved to shop, so she went to the mall and she put her sunglasses….WHAT? Where did they go? uh oh where did they go? The students had to fill in where she left then hence using a preposition. To model I got my sunglasses out and asked the kids possible places I could leave them..under the table, in my purse, and my favorite…on my head! Here is the sheet we used and the kids got to draw their own Preppy Polly. My border is from SugarHillCo.com. Click to download PDF.
Okay now on to the good non teaching stuff! I made these pinterest inspired strawberry and cream muffins and they were AMAZING!yum. Click on the link to find the real recipe.
Here are all of my ingredients First, I chopped up my strawberries
Then I whipped up the cream cheese, eggs, sugar and vanilla extract:
Then the directions wanted me to whisk the dry ingredients and make a well? What the crap is a well? haha this is what I came up with maybe someone who cooks can tell me if I am right or wrong:
then I poured my wet ingredients in the well and mixed well. I filled the cupcake pans half way then added some strawberries and then a scoop of cream and then some more strawberries then topped it off with some raw sugar.
Let them bake for about 20 minutes and let them cool…WOW they smell and taste so good.. not so much healthy but good!Gotta love some Pinterest!
Let me know if you try this and how they turn out!

Last Week and Pinterest
So last week was a pretty GREAT week! First off to celebrate mine and Carter’s 6th month anniversary… Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide won National Championship #14! Whoo whoo We were super pumped about it at school and at home. We enjoyed great food and family during the first half and then I cried like a baby when Nick said,”I’m just so happy!” haha I can cry over anything!
I loved that one of our generalizations from our 3-2-1 was…Since four people voted for LSU that means we have four Auburn fans in our class. :)
We also completed our pinterest inspired bulletin boards:
I
I also tried the brownie/dt. coke brownie recipe from Pinterest. I used dt. dr. pepper. I only baked them for about 25 minutes at first and the body was super gooey so I put them back in for another 15 min. and they came out better.
Have a blessed week.

First Week of the New Year
Carter and I spent a fair amount of time at what is soon to be my home away from home… The Softball Field. We are trying to make the rye grass grow…it is slowly but surely coming along. Also trying to get new ideas for the locker room! Don’t want to spoil it for any of the girls which are highly likely to NOT be reading this but just in case I’ll post pictures later of those ideas.
I also spent a lot of time at school getting back in the groove. It didn’t take long. We also have full week coming up but then will enjoy a four day week next week! Whoo hoo! Just keep the snow away PUHLEASE!
Monday, Carter worked late so I thought that I would do something simple and “healthy” for diner. {ya know it being the new year and all} Carter LOVES Cracker Barrel's Chef Salad, so I thought that I would just recreate that for him with a side of fresh asparagus and mushrooms…for me…because he doesn’t eat asparagus or mushrooms ha! This was so EASY and yummie! I just spread my asparagus out on the parchment paper and sprinkled with olive oil, salt and pepper. The I tossed it around with my tongs and then added the mushrooms on top. It smelled so good cooking in the oven. I heated my oven to 350 degrees and let the veggies roast for about 15 min while I chopped up my other veggies and lettuce for the salad. We had orange and green bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, jalapenoes, cucumbers, roasted chicken (from the store. I just pull it off the bone), cheese, bacon bits, and Italian dressing. It was fantastic and it lasted for lunch two days.
Tuesday was the eventful day. I took my precious momma to the dr. in bham to have her stitches removed from her back surgery which took all of like 8 min. Seriously. Carter called me on the way and told me he had hit his head on the kitchen light fixture and it had broken. I was thinking maybe one of the globes, I made sure he was okay and he said he didn’t have time to clean it up and for me to be careful when I got home. Nothing could prepare me for what I was going to walk into the house to….
He sure does have one hard head, but I was extremely concerned that he had a concussion because that it some seriously thick glass. The good news is I HATED that light fixture and have been begging for one for quite sometime. YaY! So I got a new light this weekend! Its not the GREATEST thing that you have ever seen, but it serves two purposes: 1. Carter can’t hit his head on it and 2. It doesn’t get it the way of the shelves I really don’t want to move.
I do like my non holiday shelves, but am looking forward to decorating for Valentine’s Day.
I hope your first week of 2012 was GREAT and that you have 51 more just like them!
I’m going to start giving my Ss a motivational quote of the week and this next weeks is:
You’re always in control of two things your EFFORT and your ATTITUDE!

Printable for Waterhouse Hawkins
On Mondays we listen to our reading story for our center rotation. Sometimes I just don’t think that listening is enough. In first grade there was time to listen to the story and do a reader’s response. However, the stories in 5th grade are longer and there isn’t enough time to do the sheet also, so I just made it the seat work rotation. I include the skill and strategy for the week and then something we need to review. Including basic skills such as author/illustrator/genre/etc feel free to use it. My clip art came from Lettering Delights.

New Year Post
The tree is down, the closets are organized, and it is back to work tomorrow!
We took one last picture before we took in down. {Still playing with the settings} This was the best one. Barney was in on the action too…for like a minute haha: until the treats were gone.
Carter and I had such a fantastic break. We spent so much time together and got a lot accomplished. The first six months of our marriage were awesome. Can’t wait to see what 2012 holds for us! {Maybe some matching earrings for me!}
After getting together with my oldest friends and hubbys since kindergarten on Friday night:
We decided to stay in for New Years Night. Best.Decision.Ever! No Stress to find an outfit, no plans to fret with, just a great meal with great company!
The house is clean and organized. Carter’s sweet momma made me some curtains for our guest bed room and it feels so homey. The declutter of Christmas is refreshing even though I hate when it is over. Believe it or not I am ready to go back to school and see my kiddos. We are going to be doing lots of cool stuff this week. We are going to be doing variations of these activities via Pinterest:
{does my brain even come up with original ideas anymore?}
Can’t Wait! Tomorrow is a special day for my little sis! Tomorrow is her FIRST day as a real teacher! She has worked so hard in her classroom over the break! Her kids are sooo lucky to have her! Good luck to Mrs. Holcombe tomorrow!
New Years 2010…
